Although Nestlings Press published a few Aesop, ASAP book years ago, this new one is markedly different. For one thing, it has 32 illustrators, including some of the greats (Arthur Rackham, Boris Artzybasheff, Milo Winter, Gustave Doré, Sylvain Sauvage, Ernest Griset, J.J. Mora, the list goes on). For another, it is wider and higher than the earlier books and offers a great many of the illustrations in full colour. For yet another, while some of the fables appeared in the earlier books, they have been substantially revised for this edition, and many new fables have been added. As before, they are told straight, in rhyming verse. The odds are good that you will love the art. Whether you abide by the fables’ morals is up to you.
